Today is Dec. 17, 2012 and that means it’s Project for Awesome! Every year on Dec. 17, YouTubers upload videos informing the public about charities. It’s a break from the cute kitties and hilarious memes to raise money and awareness for some wonderful causes.
Project for Awesome was started by the Vlog Brothers, John and Hank Green, in 2007. Every year, they try to get the YouTube and Internet population on board to help decrease what they and their community, Nerdfighteria, call World Suck.
The charities vary, from Save the Children to Alzheimer’s Society, from Water.org to Tab for a Cause, and many important others in between. Go to Project for Awesome’s website linked above, and watch, like, and comment on some videos. For each comment, the Vlog Brothers donate a penny, so there’s no reason not to leave some comments on P4A videos today!
- Current comment count = 97,173
- P4A $ raised = $214,813
That dollar amount doesn’t even include money that was raised by individual YouTubers linking to JustGiving pages and charity websites to which people donated directly. Learn more about Project for Awesome by clicking here, and don’t forget to be awesome!
